Someone has to Clean the Oven\u2026Even if you have a self-cleaning one.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d read on the greenie sites that\u201d Self-cleaning ovens are equipped with additional insulation to hold heat in the oven, so it doesn\u2019t leak out into your kitchen and make your home cooling system work harder.\u201d I liked the other features on the oven, so when\u00a0 got my Kitchenaid I thought the\u00a0 self-cleaning feature would be handy. But when I found it took about 3 hours at 900 degrees, didn\u2019t do the racks, was a danger to small animals, and then you still had to wipe it down \u2014 it just didn\u2019t seem worth it. Especially because my oven didn\u2019t seem that dirty.<\/p>\n

A friend recommended Carbona oven cleaner <\/strong><\/a>– fume-free, bio-degradable in a non-aerosol can. It wasn\u2019t foam like others I used \u2013 this was a gel, and they said you could use it in self-cleaning ovens.<\/p>\n

Well, it didn\u2019t work so well in mine\u00a0 \u2014 seemed like I had to do a lot of scrubbing on my own. However, I didn\u2019t not leave it on overnight.<\/p>\n

But I took it too a friend\u2019s so I wouldn\u2019t waste my $4. We forgot about it for the weekend (didn\u2019t even pre-heat) and the old oven looks like new. I was amazed. I see they also have a rack cleaner \u2014 I\u2019m tempted to try it, too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
